Huntington, IN - Horace Mann Elementary School's gymnasium was transformed into a vibrant celebration today as students, staff, and volunteers gathered for the annual "Carnival for ALL" event. This beloved tradition provides students from our Essential Skills classes the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and enjoy a day filled with adapted games and activities.
"The Carnival for ALL is all about creating an inclusive environment where every student can participate independently," explained the event coordinator and Physical Education Teacher Amy Degitz.
The gymnasium was decorated with colorful banners and clever stations, creating a carnival atmosphere. Students eagerly moved from station to station, participating in a variety of games specifically adapted to ensure every child could experience success regardless of ability level.
Among the most popular attractions were the concession stands offering treats, prize booths where students could redeem prizes earned from games, and a special photo opportunity with Miss Roanoke, Maggie Kauffman. Creative expression was encouraged at art project stations, while a balloon animal artist delighted students with custom creations.
Horace Mann Elementary Student Council Members and parent volunteers played crucial roles in making the event a success. Many commented on the joy visible on students' faces as they independently navigated games designed with their specific needs in mind.
The "Carnival for ALL" represents Horace Mann Elementary's ongoing commitment to inclusive education and celebrating the unique abilities of every student. As another successful carnival concludes, the impact of this special day will continue to resonate throughout the Huntington County community.
Every Student. Every Day.
